China Cabinet

Delivered at 8:45 A.M. today:We finally have a proper place to store all of our lovely china and glassware. Our kitchen has inadequate storage, so we had been storing all of our wedding gifts in our guest room. Yes, I know it has almost been a year...we're a bit slow around here. The cabinet arrived today and I spent a good part of the day lugging boxes downstairs, unpacking them and placing them in their new home. The dogs were very upset that they weren't allowed inside, I had them on the porch while I completed the task of the day. -Liz

Yikes, has it been that long?

I found this old photograph from our trip to Hawaii among a bunch of papers on my desk and had David scan it in. I can't believe that trip was so long ago! I will never forget when David surprised me at dinner with a map of Hawaii tucked inside the restaurant menu and told me he had gotten tickets for us to go and celebrate our one-year anniversary of dating. The photo was taken at a luau in Kona in October, 2000.

Bill Bryson's Memoir

The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid: A Memoir by Bill Bryson was such an enjoyable read. It is laugh-out-loud funny. Bryson has a great way of retelling stories in vivid detail, through his memories he tells us of his childhood growing up in Des Moines, Iowa in the 1950's.

Spider-Man 3

Since we enjoyed the first two installments of Spider-Man, we had to see the third one despite the horrible critic reviews. So we found ourselves at the movies on its opening weekend. I really had high expectations and I have to say that it definitely failed to live up to the first 2. There was just too much going on, so much so that it did not feel like a cohesive story. It wasn't all bad though, I loved the new villains and fight sequences. The Sandman and Venom were really cool and they definitely deserved more screen time. There was a strange dance sequence, and plenty of cheeseball moments which were really funny, although I’m not sure that the director intended them to be funny. Overall it was enjoyable.
