New and Improved EnduroTracker.com

After 3 months of work, there is a new and improved www.EnduroTracker.com site available.
This site is targeted towards the Triathlete or endurance athlete who want to plan and track their training sessions from any available internet enabled device (PC, iphone, blackberry, etc).
If you have friends who do endurance sports like Triathlons, bike races, road races, or swim races refer them to www.endurotracker.com. ( a triathlon training log site)
For anyone interested in the technical stuff, www.EnduroTracker.com is now using substantial more hardware, and is now using several new redundancy strategies to handle large loads, maximize performance, and deal with hardware disaster scenarios. It uses redundant web servers, and redundant database servers.

It's official, Old Man Winter is here!

Yesterday marked the first day of Winter and we're already buried under a thick blanket of snow. Although digging out was a huge pain, I must say that it is delightful to watch Kei and Shiro in their element, they can't get enough of the white fluffy stuff.
For those of you who hate Winter, look at the bright side....from this point forward we begin to enjoy more hours of DAY light!

Perceptive

"The days sure go by quickly around here. It must be because we've done nothing all weekend."

"Yeah, or perhaps it's because you woke up at 1pm."

Lesson

Back in October I was pulled over for speeding in Westwood and received a pretty hefty fine. Long story short, I challenged the ticket because the officer blatantly lied about radar and I had my court date yesterday.

Turns out judges put a lot of weight on an officer’s sworn statement…..

At least he reduced my ticket to a $100. Note to self: abide the speed limit!

Bad Blogger

I am horrible at keeping this blog updated. Mostly this is because we're boring and have nothing exciting to report. David is still working away on EnduroTracker, I think I'll be doing some QA work on it this coming weekend. I can't wait to start marketing it. We're starting to get into the holiday spirit, we got our Christmas tree up this past weekend, I just love the pine smell and it looks so pretty! I'll have to snap some pictures and post them soon. I can't believe Christmas is a little over a week away, craziness.......

Overheard tonight in queue at the local Franklin liquor store...

Random old dude buying his nightly case of bud: "Obamapalooza! What the heck is that?....More like Obama loozaa..."

Liz: "hmmm...doubt it, we'll see if he's a "loozaa"..."

As David and I leave the store...

David, shaking his head: "Honey, you really like to start trouble. Never argue religion and politics."

Mini-burgers at Min&Ronn's wedding were a huge hit

If the new business doesn't pan out....at least he can wait tables.

Cloud Computing: Amazon EC2

Since, everyone (family included thinks I goof around all day), and the fact that this
stuff was not documented very well, I have written up 2 how-to articles on using Amazon's EC2
for .Net applications and Open Source DB's like postgresql.

I posted them here if anyone is interested (mostly the computer guys in the audience):

Good Looking Irishman

Ah...my handsome husband sporting a brand new wool cap on the Dingle Peninsula. At our next viewing stop, the wind had picked up and the cap flew off David's head the second he stepped out of the car. Luckily, it only blew away about 20 feet and not off a cliff. After climbing over some wire fencing, David was able to retrieve it.

Quiet Man Bridge

Krishan at the Quiet Man Bridge. The bridge is featured in the 1950's film "The Quiet Man" starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. I'm going to have to add this movie to our netflix queue.

Cows, Horses and Sheep...Oh My!

An Exceptional View

We were lucky to see the Cliffs of Moher on a clear day.

Back to Reality

We had a grand time in Ireland with Claire and Krishan. We visited Stephanie and Seamus and managed to see a lot! From day 1 David was in the hunt for Shepherd’s Pie and asked for it at every pub. He persisted and finally found it on the menu in Galway at the Quays (a really interesting pub whose entire interior was imported from a medieval church - everything from the stained glass, the Gothic arches, the carved wood, and even the pews). Anyhow we enjoyed the trip, the company, the pubs, the gorgeous views and of course the Guinness. I have to say that people are not exaggerating when they say Ireland is a spectacular, gorgeous country and yet we only got a little taste of the Emerald Isle. Too bad vacations go by way too quickly.

Touching the Taj Mahal

This was so long ago! I have no idea how David agreed to pose for this one.

Finally updating the blog

Wow, it has been over 2 months since our last post. We have to update this page more often! In November we drove down to Bethesda (with the dogs) to visit our sisters (Claire, Sheila, Mary). Most of you may know that my sister Mary is renting a room from David's sister Claire in Bethesda. It was a nice time, we did some touristy things like tour the White House but mostly just hung out with family. Here are just a few photos.
